What should a community do if non-Jews demand that they hand over one Jew, or everyone will be killed? Is there a difference whether the enemy singles out an individual, or asks the community to choose who will be killed? What about violating the Torah when one is forced to do so not by an enemy, but by a doctor trying to heal him?
